The organizers of an American conference have announced Kanye West as the new replacement speaker after John Crist was forced to cancel all future engagements.
West will speak at the Strength to Strength conference, aimed at young people from middle school to college.
Crist, the popular Christian comedian, has stood down from his tours and engagements after he recently apologized for his ”destructive and sinful” behavior over sexual assault allegations. He was scheduled to perform at Stand to Stand‘, forcing conference organizer Scott Dawson to make a last-minute change.
So who better to replace him with than Christianity’s newest kid on the block, Kanye West. West, the apparent new pin-up Christian after releasing his new album, ‘Jesus Is King’, which immediately topped Billboard’s Christian charts, and starting his own form of a church service, known as Kanye’s Sunday Services, is the new speaker at the conference, which runs January 18 through 20.
West also recently appeared at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood megachurch.
He released the news via the video below.
Comedian Crist had several incidents of sexual misconduct made against him. He is accused of sexting, affairs with married women, harassment, as well as offering free tickets to those performing sexual favors.
Netflix also pulled his upcoming new show after the allegations came to light.
Crist released a statement to Charisma News after five women claimed Crist initiated inappropriate sexual behavior with them. “Over the past number of years, various women have accused me of behavior that has been hurtful to them,” he said in a statement.
“While I am not guilty of everything I’ve been accused of, I confess to being guilty of this — I have treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly.
“My behavior has been destructive and sinful. I’ve sinned against God, against women and the people who I love the most. I have violated my own Christian beliefs, convictions and values, and have hurt many people in the process. I am sorry for the hurt and pain I have caused these women and will continue to seek their forgiveness. I have also hurt the name of Jesus and have sought His forgiveness.”
Kanye recently stated that he wants to change his name to ‘Christian Billionaire Genius’, so we’re still not sure if this is just the best publicity move ever, or a real conversion.
