Kanye West has celebrated one year of his
Kanye Sunday Services by holding an event in the Skid Row precinct in downtown
Los Angeles.
The music star, who now calls himself a
Gospel artist, launched the service one year ago as his own version of a church
service.
A lot of times people say, ‘Thank you Ye
for Sunday Service.’ I’m saying thank God. This thing saved my life,” West
said. “This thing was an alternative to opioids. This thing was an alternative
to pornography.
“I worked for others before Christ. It landed
me right in the hospital.”
West has been open about his addiction to pornography, which started with exposure to Playboy as a child.
West also visited the Union Rescue Mission
in downtown Los Angeles, bringing along with him his Sunday Service choir. In
his service, he touched on homelessness, saying, “We can find a solution; a worldwide
solution.”
As My Christian Daily reported last week, West released a new album called ‘Jesus is Born’ on Christmas Day. He also launched ‘Jesus is King’, which went to number one on both Billboard’s Top Christian Albums and Top Gospel Album charts.
