The US elections may be on November 3, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue for Kanye West, who randomly announced on Twitter that he is running for President.
He tweeted, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States.”
With West, it’s hard to tell if he is joking or not, as he made a major announcement to his over 29 million Twitter fans, but then has not followed up his announcement.
Is it a publicity stunt, a bit of fun, is he busy over the July 4 weekend, or is he in fact serious? Forbes recently announced he was a billionaire due to his Yeezy brand royalty income he receives from Adidas. He has also announced just last week that he has signed a 10 year deal with clothing retailer Gap to produce a line of Yeezy clothing.
In the middle of all of this, West last week released his new Gospel album, ‘God’s Country.’
West is an entrepreneur who generally does what he says he is going to do. He has the financial backing, the support of America’s hurting black community, and even Elon Musk tweeted his support.
But there is the small issue of a party to join. Will he be a Republican, Democrat, or run as an independent?
West has stated in the past that he will run for president, but the more likely outcome is that he will run in 2024, if he is serious, giving his the necessary time to mount his campaign.
