A senior pastor has died after he contracted the Covid-19 virus. Center Point Church Pastor Tim Stephens died August 26.

According to the Kentucky Herald Leader, the pastor tested positive for coronavirus a little more than two weeks ago and was hospitalized Aug. 13. He died Thursday morning.

A Facebook post stated, “Today we mourn with our ministry partner, Center Point Church, on the passing of their senior pastor, Tim Parsons. This morning we were remembering one of the times Center Point came for a Serve Day at the Mission. On one of the hottest days of the year, Tim cooked around 100 hamburgers for our guests over a very hot grill, and he did it like he did everything else, with joy. We will miss him, but are so thankful he is in the arms of our Savior!

“Tim went into the arms of Jesus around 1:00am this morning. We were able to be with him so he was surrounded by his family and we prayed and worshiped with him as he peacefully entered the presence of Heaven. He will be greatly missed, but we trust our Heavenly Father as we know that, no matter what, HE IS GOOD!”

His wife, Susan, said in a statement, “First of all, I want to say thank you so much to all who have prayed! Even though God’s plan was different than we would have liked, we fully trust the hand of the Lord and He has given His peace that passes all understanding! (Phil. 4:7)”

Staff at the Lexington Rescue Mission, which serves the homeless and the poor, said Parsons and the congregation at Center Point Church were volunteers, calling Parsons “a true servant leader”.

“This morning, we were remembering one of the times Center Point came for a Serve Day at the Mission,” the Lexington Rescue Mission wrote on Facebook. “On one of the hottest days of the year, Tim cooked around 100 hamburgers for our guests over a very hot grill, and he did it like he did everything else, with joy.”

According to his bio on the church’s website, “Tim is passionate about life-change. He’s the main speaker on Sundays, gives direction and oversight to the staff and leadership team, and meets with and disciples CPC attenders every day.”
