Tom Hanks has spoken publicly after he and his actress wife, Rita Wilson, contracted the coronavirus.
The couple, who are filming a new Baz Luhrmann movie on Queensland’s Gold Coast, are now in isolation.
“Rita Wilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us,” Hanks stated on Instagram. “We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness.”
“We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?
“Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx.”
The megastar was able to see the lighter side of the virus. Hanks completed his comment by quoting a famous line of his from the 1992 hit A League of Their Own: “Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”
The couple are holed up in a Gold Coast hospital while Warner Bros is working with authorities to assess who has been in contact with the couple. It is understood that the couple contracted the disease outside of Australia.
